What moves the per-head price
- Head type. Wall-mount units are the least expensive. Ceiling cassettes, floor-mounts and concealed-ducted heads cost meaningfully more per zone in labor and materials.
- Electrical. A new dedicated circuit or a panel upgrade adds $445 to $1,845 at most companies. Standard electrical is included in our flat price.
- Labor rates. Licensed HVAC techs in Austin run $75 to $150 per hour, and a single-zone install takes 4 to 8 hours.
- Efficiency. Higher SEER2 equipment raises the per-head equipment cost.
