Install a Mini Split in Your Backyard Office Pod.
Updated September 2026
Backyard office pods are popular for remote work but rarely include heating or cooling. A ductless mini split solves that. ATX Mini Split King installs one to three zones at flat prices starting at $1,500. No custom quotes, no hidden fees, and no separate furnace required.
Flat pricing, same everywhere we work
| System | Flat price, installed | Included |
|---|---|---|
| One split (single room) | $1,500 | Indoor head, outdoor condenser, line set, standard electrical, all labor |
| Two splits | $2,500 | Everything above, two zones |
| Three splits | $3,500 | Everything above, three zones |
Every install is wired to code by our TDLR-licensed contractor. Long line-set runs, panel upgrades or unusual mounting can add cost, and we tell you up front, before any work starts. For market context, see our Austin mini split cost guide: typical Central Texas quotes run $3,000 to $5,000 for a single zone.
Why Your Prefab Pod Needs a Mini Split.
Most prefab and site-built backyard office pods ship as an empty shell. They lack insulation for deep temperature control and have no built-in HVAC. A ductless mini split provides both cooling for Central Texas summers and heat for mild winters through a single wall-mounted unit. The installation includes running a line set from the outdoor condenser to the indoor air handler, mounting the unit on an interior wall, and completing the standard electrical hookup to your home's panel. All materials and labor are covered in one flat price.
Our flat rates apply to new installations only. One split costs $1,500, two splits $2,500, and three splits $3,500. That includes the unit, mounting hardware, line set, touch-up paint if needed after running lines through the wall, and a Home Depot run for that paint. Most one to three zone backyard pod installs finish in a single day and are tested before the crew leaves. There are no surprise fees. We state honest exceptions like a very long line set or a needed panel upgrade before work starts.
How We Handle the Pod Installation.
A typical backyard pod sits 20 to 50 feet from the main house. That distance affects line set length and electrical routing. Our flat rate covers standard line set runs up to a reasonable length. If your pod is far from the house or has an unusual wall construction like thick SIPs, we discuss that upfront. The outdoor condenser usually sits on a concrete pad or bracket near the pod or the house. The indoor head mounts high on a wall to distribute air evenly across the workspace. Condensate drain routing is included.
Our TDLR-licensed contractors handle the full installation. That means no subcontractor tags or third party electricians. The crew runs the line set through a small hole drilled from the pod to the outside, secures it neatly, and connects the electrical disconnect box. For a typical one zone pod install, we arrive in the morning and have the pod comfortable before dinner. The system is a heat pump, so it cools in summer and heats in winter without a separate furnace. We test the unit fully before packing up.
Questions
Does the flat rate include running a line set from my house to a detached pod?
Yes, the flat rate covers standard line set runs. If the pod is very far from the house or requires trenching, we note that as an exception before work starts. Most backyard pod setups fall within our standard distance.
What electrical work is included in the mini split installation for a pod?
We include a standard electrical hookup from the outdoor unit to your existing panel. If the pod needs a new subpanel or the house panel requires an upgrade that you already needed, we discuss that separately. No hidden charges.
Can you install a mini split in a pod that has no existing wall penetrations?
Yes. We drill a small hole through the wall for the line set and drain. After running the lines, we touch up the paint on both sides using paint from a Home Depot run included in our flat price. The result looks clean.
We install across Central Texas. See the Austin mini split cost guide, full Central Texas service area or Austin mini split installation.
