Can a mini split handle the heat from a projector and AV equipment in a small room?
Yes. A properly sized mini split easily handles the heat load from electronics and occupants. We size the unit based on the room's square footage and typical equipment. For a home theater, a 9,000 to 12,000 BTU unit is usually sufficient.
Will the indoor unit be loud during quiet movie scenes?
The indoor unit operates at very low sound levels on its quietest fan setting, typically below 25 decibels. That is quieter than a whisper. You can set the fan to auto or low during movies and it will not be audible over normal dialogue.
How do you handle the condensate drain in a finished home theater?
We run the condensate drain line to an exterior wall or a nearby sink drain using a small diameter tube. If gravity drainage is not possible, we install a condensate pump that lifts the water to an appropriate drain. All lines are concealed behind drywall or in conduit as needed.
