Why One Thermostat Fails a Shared Office

In a coworking suite, the open area with six people and two monitors needs steady cooling while a private office with one person and a north-facing window may feel cold by noon. A single central thermostat averages those conditions, which means nobody is comfortable. Ductless mini splits solve this by placing a separate indoor unit in each zone, each with its own remote or app control.

Installation Without Disrupting the Workday

Most coworking operators cannot close for three days while ductwork goes in. A ductless system avoids that. The outdoor condenser sits outside on a pad or bracket, and small refrigerant lines run through a three-inch opening in the wall to each indoor unit. There is no duct demolition, no ceiling tear-out, and no need to vacate the whole suite for a week.

Installations are performed by TDLR-licensed contractors, and most one to three zone jobs finish in a single day. The crew tests every zone before leaving, so cooling and heating are confirmed while you are still on site. If a long line set, a panel upgrade the house already needed, or unusually difficult mounting is required, that is stated before work starts, not after.

Can I put one unit in the open area and another in a private office?

Yes. A two-zone system with one indoor unit in the open coworking area and one in a private office is a common setup. Each unit runs independently, so the office can stay warmer or cooler than the main room without affecting the other zone.

How loud are the indoor units in a quiet coworking space?

Ductless mini split indoor units are designed for occupied rooms and run at low fan speeds once the space reaches temperature. The compressor, which makes most of the noise, sits outside. This is quieter than a window unit and far less disruptive than a central air handler cycling on and off.

Will the install require cutting into walls or disrupting members?

The standard install requires a small three-inch wall opening for the line set and a mounting plate for each indoor unit. The crew works room by room, and most one to three zone jobs finish in one day. You can keep the other rooms open while the work is happening.
