Elsewhere, ductless installs commonly run $2,000 to $5,000 per zone on a custom quote, and most local HVAC contractors, big-box store install programs, and national chains are quote-based and require an in-home sales visit before you hear a number.

A single-zone garage install is $1,500 flat and includes a Home Depot run for touch up paint if needed. There are no upcharge games. The honest exceptions are a very long line set, a panel upgrade the house already needed, or unusually difficult mounting, and those are always stated before work starts, never sprung after.
