Installation Considerations for Steel Structures.

Mounting a mini split on a shipping container requires bracketing that can handle corrugated steel and avoid water intrusion points. We use stainless steel or coated brackets to prevent galvanic corrosion between the aluminum unit and the steel wall. The line set must be carefully sealed where it passes through the container shell, using a grommet and exterior-grade silicone to keep out insects and moisture. The standard electrical hookup included in our price covers connecting the unit to an existing breaker panel within 50 feet. If your container is off-grid or requires a panel upgrade beyond that, we explain the exception before starting. Questions

Can a mini split cool a shipping container that is not insulated?

Yes, but the unit must be sized for the full heat gain of bare steel. Without insulation, the system will run longer and harder. We calculate the load based on your container's dimensions and location to pick the right capacity.

Do you mount the outdoor unit directly on the container wall?

We attach the outdoor unit to the container using brackets designed for corrugated steel. This avoids drilling into the roof or placing the unit on the ground. All penetrations are sealed to prevent rust and leaks.

What if my shipping container is not on a concrete pad?

We can still install the mini split as long as the container is level and there is a stable surface for the outdoor unit bracket. If the container is on gravel or dirt, we may need to add a small pad for the condenser. This is discussed before work starts.
